Reptile Species

Six species of reptile are resident in the UK, the four most common species being slow worm, common lizard, grass snake and adder, all of which are protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, making it an offence to kill or injure a reptile.

Reptiles occur in a wide variety of habitats, from heathland and grassland to urban areas and brownfield sites and must be removed from harm’s way before development can proceed. Stark Ecology Ltd can help with survey work at the pre-planning stage through to mitigation design including receptor site identification and translocation, and supervision of site clearance works.
